Hello everyone. I’m looking to rehome my 8 month old German shepherd.
Some information
She is NOT spayed
She is FULLY vaccinated
( will provide proof)
She has her basic obedience down
Is potty trained as well
Reason for the rehoming
Lyrin is leash reactive. Towards mainly dogs and some people.
She loves mostly everybody she meets but gets frustrated when she can’t interact and this causes her to growl or lunge.
She is not a big fan of most dogs especially hyper energetic dogs. If the dog is calm and neutral or a puppy she’s the best dog ever on and off leash. Her best friend is a golden retriever and seems to prefer golden retrievers as her friends.
Would she be suited for a house with cats?
She has a high prey drive and chases mine. Never attacks just tries to play. If you will work on her with that then she would be fine with cats in the house.
Would she be suited with a house with dogs?
Yes and no. It depends on your dogs temperament and energy level. Once she’s made friends she’s very high energy and wants to play but it has to be at her own pace to avoid her getting stressed.
Would she be suited for a family with children?
Maybe older children. She’s very rambunctious and hyper. She might jump and knock them over but she loves my siblings who she lives with ages 3,7,10 and 13. It will need to be worked on. For now I’d say older children 12+ would be best.
Even though she is reactive she has made progress which is something to mention. Sometimes she can walk by a person and not react. Sometimes she puts herself in a down position and lets the person pass. If she sees people across the road sometimes she reacts but if you catch it on time and bring a toy it’s easy to redirect her attention. Some days are worse then others and some days you wouldn’t be able to tell she’s reactive.
She is being muzzled trained. It’s not her favorite thing in the world but it protects her and everyone else on a walk just as a precaution.
She does wear a prong on walks as she is absolutely insane with a harass or flat collar. This tool helps her walking issues tremendously.
She knows quite a few commands such as
Sit, down, a pretty, speak, spin, wait, paw, high five, up, leave it ( with treats ) and she is crate trained.
Working on leave it with big distractions, working on better leash manners, working on liking her muzzle more, working on dogs and people are our friends.
She will come with
Leashes, prong, interactive puzzle toys, kongs, lick mat, 48” dog kennel, toys, water bottle, collars, and anything else of hers.
She will not be used as a breeding dog and I expect a meet and greet before hand along with occasional updates on how her training is going.
I wholeheartedly believe that this reactivity can be managed with the proper training but please keep in mind that this is serious. Please have experience in this breed and these issues or be willing to get a professional trainer to help her work on this.
We are located in Smith falls. But can travel a certain distance for the right home!
Please message me if you have any questions or want to know more.
Thank you
